MiniDisc Partnership Program
Purpose: To cultivate a “cluster” of MiniDisc (MD)-related sites that collectively support discovery, visibility, and collaboration.
In the early days of the internet, the strategy known as “link building” aimed to influence search engine rankings. Here, I’m proposing a similar practice—but with a more meaningful goal.
By developing a network of interconnected MD-focused sites, we create a system where discovering one leads to many. This cluster becomes a gateway to the broader online MiniDisc ecosystem.
MDCon.Live intends to provide the first cluster resource and encourages others to also provide them.
Such an initiative would serve both seasoned enthusiasts and newcomers alike. While MiniDisc.Wiki was created to be a central resource—and it has done an admirable job—it can’t fulfill every purpose. Wikis are, by nature, ever-evolving. When high-value content is surfaced through these cluster links, it can either be added to the Wiki or referenced externally. Some resources simply don’t fit within a Wiki’s structure and deserve standalone recognition.
This approach also boosts visibility across search engines and, increasingly, AI-driven indexing. While I may not be entirely comfortable with AI, it would be shortsighted not to harness its potential in service of the MD community’s needs, goals, and dreams.
If you manage an online MiniDisc asset, I’d love to hear from you. With enough interest, I may need to create categories just to organize the incoming partnerships—which would be a great problem to have.
Cheers,
